User experience is quickly becoming a buzzword, yet few companies really spend time to understand users and their behavior. It is paramount to understand users before making sure they understand your content and structure. Therefore, the event will be centered around mental models, user research, defining and testing the appropriate structures for understanding.

Marius Ursache

Marius should have been a successful plastic surgeon (he owns a Medical Degree), but instead he landed early in media & advertising. From cartoonist for a radio station (a paradox), then for the largest Romanian news group, he then worked as graphic artist and designer for companies in Romania, UK and US. In 1999, aged 22, Marius founded Grapefruit, currently one of the leading branding and digital agencies in Romania. He studied design in New York at Sessions.edu, and then with Milton Glaser at the School of Visual Arts; communication and PR at SNSPA Bucharest (Romania), then digital media (European Masters in Interactive Multimedia, Romania). He holds an impressive number of international design awards, among them a Brand Leadership Award at World Brand Congress 2009. He is also a founding member of the Creative Industries Association (Romania) and an advisory board member for the Romanian Institute for Information Architecture.

Ana-Maria Bogdan
Managing Director, Grapefruit

One might think there’s a long way from being a Theology & Foreign Languages graduate to managing an internationally awarded branding & digital agency… In Ana’s case, this would rather be characterized as a natural process, as she started her career as a copywriter, later moved from web editor to information architect and finally spent several years training digital staff and building e-business departments for industries such as telecom, media, retail/e-tail and banking. After more than 10 years spent on the client side, Ana decided to switch to the other side, namely the agency. Having a particular interest in change management, Ana holds two Mas in advertising and communication, and a Sheffield Executive MBA diploma. For the past 5 years, she’s been part of the Board of IAB Romania, contributing to the digital industry’s growth by promoting educational and regulatory projects.
